Notes / Reviews

The Dream That Stuff Was Made Of is an album by the indie pop band Starlight Mints.

(The title references the line "The stuff that dreams are made of" from The Maltese Falcon, and, second-handedly, Shakespeare: In Act IV of The Tempest, Prospero says We are such stuff / As dreams are made on, and our little life / Is rounded with a sleep).

Artist/Band Information

Starlight Mints are an indie pop/psychedelic pop band from Norman, Oklahoma. The band was formed in the '90s and has varied in size between four and seven members. The current lineup consists of Allen Vest (vocals, guitar), Andy Nunez (drums), Marian Love Nunez (keyboard), Ryan Lindsey (keyboards/guitar) and Javier Gonzales (bass). Three previous members (James Honderich, Mary Beth Leigh, Kure Croker) contributed to their sound on violin, cello, voice. They released The Dream That Stuff Was Made Of in 2000 through the label See Thru Broadcasting and Built on Squares in 2003 through Pias America.

They signed with Barsuk Records in December 2005 and released their first album with the record label (Drowaton) on April 25, 2006.

Drummer Andy Nunez owns and operates the Opolis, an indie rock venue in Norman, Oklahoma. The venue hosts both local and national acts.

An extract of the band's single "Eyes of the Night" is the theme tune for ITV1 supernatural drama Demons.
