Frankenstein Girls Will Seem Strangely Sexy (often abbreviated FGWSSS or just Frankenstein Girls) is the second album by New York City band Mindless Self Indulgence released in 2000. This album is the follow-up to the album Tight. It is also the last studio album to feature Vanessa YT as their bass player, as well as the only album featuring her to still be in print as of late, and the last album by them to feature a message from their answering machine ("M", in which the caller accuses them of homosexuality) as one of the tracks.
The track listing on the back cover has all the vowels replaced with asterisks, even in those words that wouldn't generally be considered offensive, as a form of protest against censorship. The tracks of this album are also in alphabetical order.
The cover of the album was drawn by Jamie Hewlett, the artist known for Tank Girl, and more recently, Gorillaz. Jamie Hewlett offered to make a music video for a song on the album but was rejected by Elektra.

Warning
Printed on the inside of the sleeve:
"You must listen to this album with your tongue planted firmly in your cheek. If you don't have a sense of irony, or you are a piece of shit bigot, or a fundamentalist anything, return this album immediately, don't come to our shows, don't wear our t-shirts. Fuck off. If you're a parent who neglects, beats, or doesn't show your child love, know that we don't condone violence so don't waste our time in court while you try to explain to a jury how our music made your "happy & normal" child into a deranged lunatic.
Thank You"
"If you think we're rightwing, leftwing, feminists, sexists, tops, bottoms, gay or straight, I want to tell you right now that we are." (Quote seen on the bottom of the "Thanks" page in the CD cover sleeve)

Mindless Self Indulgence is an American synthpunk musical group formed in New York in 1997. Their music has a mixed style including punk rock, alternative rock, electronica, hip-hop, and industrial. Their group name is derrived from a solo album that frontman, Jimmy Urine self-recorded in the mid-1990s.
The group was formed when Urine was joined by fellow musicians Steve, Righ?, Vanessa Y.T. (who was later replaced by LynZ) and Kitty. They have released four albums, two EPs, one live album, and one live DVD. Rather than signing traditional record contracts, the band has licensed most of their albums to record labels, retaining ownership of the music.
The group maintains a devout fanbase, and has opened for many well-known acts such as Linkin Park, System of a Down, Korn, Sum 41 and Rammstein. Notable bands who have opened for them include The Dresden Dolls, Rasputina, The Birthday Massacre, Tub Ring and Dog Fashion Disco.
In January 2009 the band headlined the Kerrang! Relentless Energy Drink tour, though LynZ did not participate due to her pregnancy.http

Jimmy Urine (James Euringer) is the vocalist and programmer for Mindless Self Indulgence. He was born on , in New York City. Prior to the band's start, Urine released a mostly industrial solo album called Mindless Self-Indulgence. Steve, Righ? co-wrote and played on the song "Bed of Roses". Urine and Righ? also released an album as The Left Rights. He has often expressed an actual dislike for music in general, and when asked in an interview in 2006 with Musicpix what he listened to as a teen:
"Ahh, see that’s the difference. I never bought any records. When I was 12, I was really into movies…I was into Star Wars and all that shit. I had a lot of older movies and stuff like that, so all I would do is buy soundtracks to movies. I never bought any rock records until I was much older…17 or 18…"
He was asked why he was a musician in the same interview:
"Because so far, it’s easy. If it was hard, I wouldn’t be doing it. I like movies. I like comic books. I originally wanted to be in comic books and it just ended up that I could write songs."
Urine married Chantal Claret, lead singer of the band Morningwood, on January 18, 2008.

Steve, Righ?
Steve, Righ? (Steven Montano) plays guitar in Mindless Self Indulgence. He began using the name "Steve, Righ?" after someone approached him at a show and said "You're Steve, righ?...".
Rob Kleiner of the band Tub Ring filled in for Steve briefly while he was hospitalized from late 2004 to early 2005 due to a hip injury. He has had two surgeries on his hip, the first one unsuccessful. According to an interview with Jimmy for Kerrang! magazine, Steve claims to frequently get stopped by the metal detectors at airports due to his metal hip.
Steve has also co-written a handful of songs with Jimmy Urine, such as "Dicks Are for My Friends" and "Seven-Eleven", among others. With Mindless Self Indulgence, he wrote the last two songs on the album Frankenstein Girls Will Seem Strangely Sexy: "Whipstickagostop" and "Z", both of which he performs the lead vocals on, and the bonus track "JX-47" from the album Tight, in which he performs lead vocals and plays guitar.

In May, 2009 Steve's partner Lucinda gave birth to their daughter Violet.
LynZ
LynZ (Lindsey Ann Way) is the bassist for Mindless Self Indulgence. Born in Scotland, she moved to Ledyard, Connecticut at the age of 5. She was in a punk Dolly Parton cover band entitled "Beg Yer Parton" before joining MSI. LynZ replaced MSI's original bassist, Vanessa YT, after the release of Frankenstein Girls Will Seem Strangely Sexy. Realizing she could not get into MSI on bass talent alone, for her audition, LynZ focused on the performing aspect of being a musician by blowing fire, all across the room. On September 3, 2007 after a concert in Colorado, LynZ married Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance. The pair were married backstage following the final date of Linkin Park's Projekt Revolution tour. A member of Live Nation's touring staff who happened to be an ordained minister, performed the low-key ceremony.

Their daughter, Bandit Lee Way, was born in Los Angeles, California, on May 27, 2009 at 2:57 pm and weighed in at 6 pounds 5.6 ounces.
Kitty
Kitty (Jennifer Dunn) is the drummer in Mindless Self Indulgence. She plays an acoustic drum kit which is augmented by backing tracks consisting of sampled "loops" for the live show. Originally brought on as a temporary member, she was later promoted to permanent member. Kitty designed and ran the official website for Frankenstein Girls Will Seem Strangely Sexy. According to an interview in July 2008, Kitty dropped playing drums for years because of a misunderstanding in middle school that resulted in the purchase of her drum kit; unbeknownst to her. It wasn't until years later, when offered a chance to play with MSI, that she picked up the sticks again and played with a borrowed drum kit; when returning the borrowed kit the owner let her keep it.
Uppity Cracker
Uppity Cracker is an independent record label created by Jimmy Urine and James Galus, which the band has used to distribute numerous promos, as well as Tight, The Left Rights, Alienating Our Audience, and Despierta Los Niños. Albums that have been released on other labels also carry the Uppity Cracker imprint. The label's only release not related to Mindless Self Indulgence is by New York pop-rap group The O.
